Short Stories (2001)

This work explores memory and imagination. It investigates the domestic interior and the familiarity we have with objects that surround our everyday lives. These photographs have been taken over a 7-year period, and mainly come from my home in Hackney, London, but some of the images have been made on regular visits to Scotland, France and the US. For installation, the images are placed on discarded domestic appliances which are assimilated into a new situation. Because of the changing nature of this piece, each time it is shown it is installed differently.

This piece was nominated for the European Women’s Photography Award, Italy 1999. Short Stories was included in Daze, a group show at the University of Texas, at Dallas, USA.
